Our next walk is on June 14 at Lime Hollow Nature Center, just outside of Cortland. It should be a lovely walk.

Twelve walkers did the walk in Whaupaunaucau State Forest. It was a lovely day (at least in the morning) for a walk, and despite the occasional muddy spot here and there, it was a great route. A splendid time was had by all. Thanks to Doug and Cinda Gausman for setting up this new walk.
In other news, the opening of the Watkins Glen walk has been moved back to May 31st, from May 15th. There was a rockfall in the Glen recently, and repairs are still being made. The tentative opening is May 31st, but keep checking this site for changes. Our next walk is this Saturday at Whaupaunaucau State Forest (or as some of our club members have started calling it "Whacka-whacka State Forest", located near Norwich, NY. The POC's say that it is wooded, but not too hilly and that there should be some spring wildflowers out. Hiking boots are recommended, as there a few low muddy areas. This is a new route for the club, so check it out! Check the club page for the walk for further details.
I'm a bit late getting up last month's walk--mostly due to wanting to get the photos included. We had a wonderful turnout with people coming in from far flung places. We have several new members, as well. It was a wonderful sunny day. Many thanks to Bill and Diane Donahue for setting up the walk and to Doug Gausman for assisting at the start point. |
