America's Baseball Walks Program
Combine your love of baseball with your love of walking
Special Program Rules
Any sanctioned event that goes by a baseball diamond or stadium used by an Olympic, major league, minor league, or college baseball team in the United States or Canada (yes, the program does cover Canada too) qualifies for the program.
Walks also qualify if they pass a baseball related museum, statue, memorial, historical, grave marker or other baseball related site.
Little League fields and diamonds in public parks do not qualify for the program. Neither do softball fields. Advertising or retail establishments, such as billboards or sports merchandise stores do not count. However, a factory that makes baseball bats or gloves does qualify.
A total of 18 different baseball walks will complete the walkbook. There must be 18 different events, but not necessarily 18 different baseball qualifiers. For example, if two walks go by the same baseball stadium, museum, statue, etc., they can both be counted. Insert cards are allowed, but write-ins are not.
No duplicate event numbers (i.e., repeating the same event in a different year) are allowed.
Examples of walks that qualify for the program are Cooperstown, NY (Baseball Hall of Fame), Surprise Stadium, AZ (spring training stadium), and Greenville, NC (statue of Shoeless Joe Jackson).
Completion of 18 events gets walkers a fun, beautiful baseball patch (shown above).
Upon completion of a qualifying Baseball Walks event, the event stamp will be imprinted in the walker's Baseball Walks Volkssport Program book. The participant may enter the walk's location and the date of the event. An insert card may be used if the walkbook was not available during the walk. This program is not retroactive.
You can count walks not listed on the official Baseball Walks list. Please send Colleen an e-mail description of the walk and qualifier, though.
Program runs from January 1, 2011 to December 31st, 2013 and can purchase books during that time period. Participants have until December 31, 2014 to send in their completed books.
Registration and event information is available from Colleen Hailey at 607-754-1979. To order books, send $10.00 to the following:

Checks ($10.00) should be made available to FLRVC. When you have completed your walkbook (18 baseball events), send it to Colleen. You will receive a patch and the return of your completed book. If your record book is lost, it can replaced at the cost of $1.00 to pay for printing and postage.
To have a walk included in the Baseball Walks program, have it listed as such on the official AVA events page, or e-mail or write Colleen with the AVA walk ID number, the location, and the walk qualifier (museum, gravesite, stadium, etc.).
