NOTE: THIS YEAR, THIS WALK IS SET UP AS AN ONLINE START BOX (OSB) EVENT.

As an OSB event, there is no walk box available at the Start Point and event walkers must set up an OSB account with AVA to get event information. Go to the AVA website (my.AVA.org) to set up your OSB account and to sign up and get credit for the walk. Highlights of this walk include great views from the foot of Seneca Lake, stunning views within Watkins Glen State Park, and a jaunt through the village of Watkins Glen.

The walk route takes you along the foot of Seneca Lake, through the village of Watkins Glen, and into and through stunning Watkins Glen State Park. The walk climbs over 800 steps in  Watkins Glen State Park and the trail can be wet and somewhat slippery in parts. Walkers must be wearing footwear in good condition and should pace themselves for a strenuous climb. The reward is outstanding views of waterfalls and the Watkins Glen gorge. 
DIRECTIONS: From the south or east, take I-81 to NY17 West to Elmira, then take Hwy 14 north from Elmira to Watkins Glen. In Watkins Glen, turn RIGHT on Hwy 409 and proceed about ¼ mile to the Start Point (Wal Mart Supercenter) at 515 E. 4th Street; Watkins Glen, NY. From the west, take I-90 to I-390 through Corning to Elmira if coming from the north, otherwise take NY17 East to Elmira then follow directions to Watkins Glen. 
ELIGIBILITY: All ages are welcome to participate. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. No pets, strollers, or wheelchairs.
REGISTRATION: Registration for this walk must be done on the AVA website since this walk is now an Online Start Box (OSB) walk. Event is eligible for acquisition of IVV achievement book awards. Award fee is $3.00.
