Salt Springs State Park (near Montrose, PA)

Come join the Finger Lakes Volkssport Club for a 10k walk through Salt Springs State Park, near Montrose and Franklin, PA.
Special Programs: Bridges & PA Counties Program (Susquehanna)
START/FINISH: Salt Springs State Park, near Montrose, PA
NOTE: We will have our annual picnic around noon. Bring your own food and drink (definitely should bring water for the walk.)

TRAIL INFORMATION/CONDITIONS: Trail is rated 2C. Walk is on forest trails and rural roads. Some hills. No strollers or wheelchairs. Please don't litter.
NOTE: The annual FLRVC picnic will take place at 1:00. Bring your picnic munchies and join us! There are grills available at the park.
ELIGIBILITY: All ages are welcome to participate. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Pets must be on a leash and you should clean up after your pet.
REGISTRATION: Event is eligible for acquisition of IVV achievement awards. One event stamp may be entered in event books. Fee is $3.00. Unlimited distance credit may be entered in distance books. You may walk twice using the same start card. IVV achievement books are available for $5.00 each. No refunds once event has started. Participants may walk at no charge if no event credit or award is wanted.

TIME: Start anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
DIRECTIONS: From Binghamton:Take Route 7 South to Corbettsville, NY. At the yellow blinking light, turn right. This turns into PA Route 29 South. Travel ~8 miles, to Franklin Forks Village. Turn right onto Silver Creek Road. Travel 1.2 miles. Turn left into the park.
From Scranton:
Take I- 81 North to the New Milford exit. Turn left off of the exit ramp. Travel approx. 1 mile, to stop sign. At stop sign, turn left onto Route 11 South. Travel approx. 2.5 miles, to Route 706. Turn right onto Route 706. Travel about 4. 5 miles to Route 29 in Montrose. Turn right (just past Lake Montrose on the right) onto Route 29 North. Travel 6.5 miles north to Franklin Forks Village. Turn left onto Silver Creek Road. Travel 1.2 miles. Turn left into the park.
From Tunkhannock:
Take Route 29 North to Montrose. Turn left at the traffic light. After the road curves left, turn right onto Route 167 North. Travel north 6.5 miles to Silver Creek Road. Turn right onto Silver Creek Road. The park is 3 miles ahead on the right. Warning: About 2 miles before you reach Silver Creek Road, you might notice Salt Springs Road on the right. Do not take this road to the park. It is not maintained or travelable. Just continue north to Silver Creek Road.
From Towanda:
Take Route 706 East toward Montrose. Just before entering Montrose, turn left onto Route 167 North. Travel north 6.5 miles to Silver Creek Road. Turn right onto Silver Creek Road. The park is 3 miles ahead on the right. Warning: About 2 miles before you reach Silver Creek Road, you might notice Salt Springs Road on the right. Do not take this road to the park. It is not maintained or travelable. Just continue north to Silver Creek Road.
WEATHER: Events are held regardless of weather. Plan and dress appropriately.
REFRESHMENTS: No food or water at start point. Restrooms available.
