Vestal Hills Kopernik Walk

Come join the Finger Lakes Volkssport Club for a 10k walk through the countryside of Vestal, New York. This walk will go by the Kopernik Observatory and Science Center. (Observatory may not be open).

SPECIAL PROGRAMS: Walking the Path of Inventions
START/FINISH: 719 Underwood Road, Vestal, NY (private residence)

TRAIL INFORMATION/CONDITIONS: Trail is rated 2. Walk is on rural roads, with several large hills. We will go by the grounds of the Kopernik Observatory (closed during the day), but will be able to see the large telescopes.
ELIGIBILITY: All ages are welcome to participate. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Pets must be on a leash and you should clean up after your pet.
REGISTRATION: Event is elegible for acquisition of IVV achievement awards. One event stamp may be entered in event books. Fee is $3.00. Unlimited distance credit may be entered in distance books. You may walk twice using the same start card. Participants may walk at no charge if no event credit or award is wanted.
AWARD: limited B awards available
TIME: Start anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
DIRECTIONS: Take Interstate Route 81 or 88 to the Binghamton area. Follow Route 17 West to Route 26 South (Exit 67s). Proceed 5 miles and turn right at Glenwood Road. (Note the green observatory sign). Take the first left onto Underwood Road and proceed roughly 1.8 miles up the hill.
WEATHER: Events are held regardless of weather. Plan and dress appropriately.
REFRESHMENTS: Water, snacks and restrooms available at start point..
